A lecture on the subject of how the participatory, immaterial, and time-based qualities of media art challenge traditional curatorial ways of working and some observed case studies of new 'modes' of curating. A panel reflecting on ten years of artists and curators working with new media, as reflected in CRUMB's two ‘Brief History of...’ books, and looking ahead to the future. Part of the two-day conference, April 16-17 Critical Themes In Media Studies - The 10th Annual Conference at The New School. Special guest Christiane Paul is a curator, including acting as Adjunct Curator of New Media Arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and a writer, including Digital Art (Thames & Hudson), and New Media in the White Cube and Beyond (UC Press).

A special event to discuss current issues in contemporary curatorial work, and launch CRUMB's three new books, which include contributions from curators Matthew Higgs, Lawrence Rinder, Barbara London and former director of Artists Space, Benjamin Weil. Special guest Maria Lind is Director of the CCS Bard Graduate Program, and has been Director of Kunstverein München, Munich, curator of Moderna Museet, Stockholm, and publications include Taking the Matter into Common Hands: Collaborative Practices in Contemporary Art (Blackdog Publishing).
